Sync your Apple Watch

Please follow the steps below to sync your Apple Watch with your Tempo Move. If you run into any issues during the process and have completed all of the steps, including troubleshooting, please get in touch with Tempo Support whose contact information can be found at the bottom of this article.

To begin the setup process, you can do this via one of the following options:

  1. Profile Settings

    1. Tap the Tempo App on your Apple Watch. A message will appear to open your Tempo App on your iPhone.

    2. Open the Tempo App on your iPhone and go to Profile > Settings > Paired Devices and Apps > Apple Watch.

  2. Class Lobby

    1. Select the class you wish to take and select the play button.

    2. Open the heart rate monitor options and select "connect" Apple Watch.

If your Apple Watch is already synced to your iPhone, this process should take only a few seconds.

If your Apple Watch does not connect, ensure that your Bluetooth connection is enabled on your iPhone and that your Apple Watch is paired with your iPhone.

This connection must be established before attempting to connect your Apple Watch to your Tempo Move.

You will then be prompted to connect your Tempo App with your Apple HealthKit. If prompted, select "Turn on all categories." If you have already synced your Apple Watch with your Apple Health app you will not see this prompt.

When you want to use your Apple Watch with your Tempo Move, open the Tempo App on your Apple Watch and follow the steps listed on your iPhone in the Tempo App.

After following the above setup steps, your Tempo App will look for your Apple Watch every time you start a class. Please follow the steps to ensure your Apple Watch pairs correctly with your Tempo Move.

  1. Select the class you wish to take from your mobile Tempo App.

  2. Open the heart rate monitor options in the class lobby.

  3. Open the Tempo App on your Apple Watch.

  4. Select the Apple Watch in the list and look for a checkmark to indicate it has been specified.

NOTE: It may take a few seconds, up to a minute, for your heart rate to begin showing in the mobile Tempo App. Ensure all other heart rate monitors are turned off, otherwise, their data may also be shown and recorded, causing inaccurate information to be displayed and recorded.

Finally, a reminder that if you have connected your Apple Watch before or after starting a class, your Apple Watch will attempt to connect on its own and you will see a successful connection has been made on your Apple Watch face.

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. If your Apple Watch loses connection with your iPhone, ensure your Apple Watch and iPhone are still connected via Bluetooth.

  2. Go into Settings > Apple Health > and make sure you have not opted out

  3. Make sure that if you are a Tempo Studio and Move owner your mobile Tempo App is logged into the device you intend to use. Failure to log into your Tempo Move account may result in the inability of your Apple Watch to connect with your Tempo Move.

  4. If you are still experiencing issues getting your Apple Watch and Tempo Move to connect, close both Tempo Apps on your iPhone and Apple Watch and try again.

Requirements to work

Please note that all of the following conditions are required for your Tempo Studio and Apple Watch to work together properly.

  1. You must have the Tempo iOS app installed on your iPhone.

  2. You must have a Tempo Studio updated to the latest version and an active subscription.

  3. You must have an Apple Watch updated to the latest version.

  4. Your Tempo Studio, iPhone, and Apple Watch must all be on the same WiFi Network.

  5. You must opt-in and grant Network Permission for the Tempo iOS app on the Apple Health app.

  6. Your iPhone needs to be in close proximity to your Apple Watch and Tempo Studio, ideally, in the same room.

  7. Do not wear your Heart Rate Monitor and Apple Watch at the same time.

Step 1: Paring Apple Watch to iPhone

  1. Your iPhone and Apple Watch must both be on the same WiFi Network.

  2. Tap the Tempo app on your Apple Watch to start the connection.

  3. On your iPhone, the opening screen will ask you to confirm you are trying to pair your iPhone and Apple Watch. Once confirmed, your iPhone will show it is searching for your Apple Watch.

  4. Once paired, tap "Next" on your iPhone to move to Step 2.

Step 2: Granting Permissions:

  1. You will be prompted to opt-in to HealthKit and Network Permissions. Select "Turn All Categories On." If you have already opted in, it will appear as great, and you will tap "Next" to move to Step 3.

  2. NOTE: A reminder that you must opt-in and grant Network Permissions as stated above in the Requirements to Work section.

Step 3: Connecting Apple Watch to Tempo

  1. You will now be prompted to turn on your Tempo Studio and log in.

  2. Login to your profile on your Tempo Studio.

  3. Once your Apple Watch is connected to your Tempo Studio, you will see a confirmation screen on your iPhone.

  5. NOTE: A reminder that your Tempo Studio, iPhone, and Apple Watch must all be on the WiFi as stated above in the Requirements to Work section. Also, Apple Watches will be paired to a user's specific profile, so your Apple Watch will not work with another user's profile.

Using Apple Watch during a Class

Step 1: Connecting Apple Watch to Tempo

  1. Login to your profile on the Tempo Studio.

  2. Once logged in, you can either:

    1. Connect your Apple Watch and then start a class.

    2. Start a class and then connect your Apple Watch.

  3. Open the Tempo App icon on your Apple Watch.

  4. This will bring up a "Connecting to Tempo" screen on your Apple Watch and then a confirmation screen once connected.

    1. If you connect your Apple Watch before starting a class, your Apple Watch will display the "Ready for Class to Start " screen.

    2. If you connect your Apple Watch after starting a class, your Apple Watch will display the workout metrics UI after the weight recommendation and introduction to class monologue are over.

  5. NOTE: Your Tempo Studio will display an Apple Watch icon in the bottom right corner by the volume/Bluetooth controls to denote a successful connection. If the Apple Watch icon disappears, then the connection has been lost.

Step 2: Class Experience and Actions

  1. Once the class has started, you will be able to see the current and upcoming set on your Apple Watch.

  2. Your Apple Watch will display what phase of your workout you are in, the remaining time for the phase you are currently in, your active heart rate, and your heart rate zone.

  3. You can swipe on your Apple Watch to an action screen where you will be able to Pause/Play the current class.

Step 3: End of Workout

  1. After completing a workout, you will be able to review your stats on the Apple Watch (the same information is also displayed on your Tempo Studio).

  2. Tapping "Done" will bring you to another screen where you have the option to either connect your Apple Watch to your Tempo Studio again for another class or end your workout session.

  3. NOTE: If you want to take another class, you will need to tap "Connect" for the Apple Watch and Tempo Studio to pair to prevent your Apple Watch from remaining paired and draining the watch battery.

Troubleshooting:

  1. Confirm each of the conditions has been met under the Requirements to Work section of this article.

  2. To open a "Status" page on your iPhone to isolate the issue you are experiencing you will want to:

    1. Open the Tempo iOS app > Profile tab > Settings > Paired Apps > Apple Watch

  3. If a section is green, then that means it is working and is not causing an issue. If a section is red, that is what is causing an issue between your Apple Watch and Tempo Studio from connecting, and will give you details on how to fix it.

  4. Disconnect your Apple Watch from the app, reboot your router, and then reconnect your Apple Watch to the Tempo app.

  5. Delete the Tempo app and then re-download it from the App Store and reconnect your Apple Watch to the Tempo app.
