You can play your favorite music apps while you work out with Tempo! Follow these setup instructions:
Tempo Move
Find the Move class you'd like to take and select Start Class
On the “Set up your equipment” screen, select Music source
In Music source, toggle on “Play your own music”
Once you’ve toggled on “Play your own music,” app icons will appear. You can tap on them to go straight to the app or you can go to your home screen and open another app.
Find the songs or playlist you want and begin playing on your preferred app
Return to the Tempo app to start your class or to adjust the volume level of the coach.
Plug in your phone when prompted to hear the music through your TV*
Tempo Studio
Find the Studio class you'd like to take and select Start Class
On the class setup screen, tap on “music source”
Select “+ Connect a new device”
Open the Bluetooth settings on the device you want to pair. Your Tempo will be able to connect with a device so long as it has Bluetooth capabilities.
Select your Tempo Studio which will appear with a custom name such as <Tempo-XYZ> .
Play your music
Once your device is paired, select it from “music source”
Open any app on your paired device and begin playing music
Music is controlled from your device
Place your device near your Studio. Ensure it’s within 2 feet of the Studio
Once you’ve paired, next time your workout, your Studio will reconnect to your last paired device when you start a class
Airpods
On Studio, go to the Bluetooth settings page.
With your AirPods in the charging case, open the lid.
Press and hold the setup button on the back of the case until you see the status light flash white.
When your AirPods appear in the list of Bluetooth devices, select them.
Keep your case open.
You should see the Airpods as “Active” below, you’re ready to go.
FAQs
On Move, how do I change the volume of my coaches and music during a Tempo class?
You can change the volume of your coaches before or during a class through the Tempo app’s “Music sources” tab. However, you’ll need to use your phone or TV volume controls to adjust the music and overall volume.
On Studio, how do I change the volume of my coaches and music during a Tempo class?
You can control the mix of your coach and music volume through the Tempo Studio.
If you want to adjust the volume, tap on the volume icon in class. Changing the volume on the phone does not change the volume on Studio (except when you mute it).
Will the music continue after the class?
Yes, music is playing in another app on your device, hence music will continue unless you pause it there.
Will the music stop if I switch profiles?
Yes, the music playing from your paired device is Bluetooth connected to your specific class.
Can I play my own music during live classes?
Yes
Will my music play throughout the class, including warm ups and cooldowns?
Yes
Move Troubleshooting
I’m unable to see the option to play my own music.
Make sure your app is updated to the most recent version.
The music stops when I switch to the Tempo app.
Playing your personal music only works from an app that lets you play audio in the background. For example, YouTube free stops once you switch to another app. Therefore you will not be able to stream it while using the Tempo app. Conversely, YouTube premium will continue to play in the background when you are using another app.
Studio Troubleshooting
I’m unable to pair my device.
Go to your device’s Bluetooth settings and wait to see if your Tempo appears in the device list
Turn your device’s Bluetooth off and on
Turn your Tempo Studio off and on
I’m unable to connect to my device.
Make sure your device is within 2 feet of your Studio and that your Bluetooth is on.
If that doesn’t work, try unpairing and repairing your device.
Go to the Bluetooth page on your Studio
Tap on the icon and “Forget device”
Go to the Bluetooth page on your device
Tap on the info icon and “Forget device”
Try pairing your device again by tapping on “Connect a new device” below either in Bluetooth Settings or Equipment setup screen.
The music breaks up when connected to the Studio.
Move your device closer to the Studio or nest your device behind your Studio screen if it fits.
The music breaks up when connected to my Airpods.
The Airpod connection may be unreliable. Use the speakers on Studio and Move for the best experience.
